GSDR of San Antonio is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.  Donations are used for veterinarian medical expenses and for other necessities associated with rescue, fostering and adoption of our rescued dogs.  

The Rescue is funded by donations and adoption fees charged for the dogs.  These donations and adoption fees help to cover some of the costs.

$10.00 will pay for a rabies shot
$20.00 will pay for heartworm testing
$100.00 will pay for male neutering
$100.00 will pay for female spaying
$350.00 will pay for a heartworm treatment
  

Our rescue group must also pay pound fees which range from $25.00 to $80.00.  Every dog coming through the our rescue is checked by a veterinarian.  Costs can include a vet visit, rabies shot, heartworm test and any other tests or treatments the veterinarian deems necessary.  In many instances the dogs have been so neglected and mistreated that they require additional veterinary care as is the case with dogs that have heartworms or have been physically harmed.

Our magnificent volunteers give of themselves and their money to help these needy German Shepherd Dogs get to their new homes.  The costs and logistics of transportation from far away places to San Antonio is borne by our volunteers...with a smile on their faces and a great feeling in their hearts.   It is not unusual to transport a German Shepherd Dog for hundreds of miles in order to bring him into safety and love.
